Portsmith Tote Sewing Workshop

When: Saturday, February 23, 11:00 am - 2 pm

Are you new to sewing and want to advance your newfound skills? Want to learn how to follow a pattern, use waxed canvas, add leather accents, and fancy metal hardware? This is your workshop. You will likely be more comfortable with this workshop if you have sewn with a machine recently, but this is a very beginner friendly project.

In this sewing workshop, you’ll learn about the basics of using a home sewing machine to make an industrially designed, highly stylish tote style bag/purse. We will cover threading the needle, winding a bobbin, what each part does, and how to troubleshoot.  This class goes beyond our basic beginner sewing class to help you make something a step up from your first project. (We carry several Klum House kits in the shop if you’re looking for another project!)

Skills You Will Learn / Practice:

  • Sewing heavy duty fabric

  • Sewing an envelope base

  • Attaching leather straps

  • Constructing a bag

  • How set metal rivets

  • Working with waxed canvas

Price Includes three hours of hands-on instruction and sewing time, use of machines, tools, etc., and a FULL Portsmith Tote Maker Kit ($90 value) by Klum House.
