When: Next Session TBD

Now that you’ve learned the basics of how to use a sewing machine you may be wondering about the other things you need to know to work confidently and independently on your own projects at home. Now we have a class for that.

In this workshop we’ll combine lecture and demonstrations with some hands on practice so you can learn lots of info, try some techniques, and go home with a wide range of knowledge to apply to several different projects.

Topics will be tailored to the specific questions raised in the group, but will also include the following topics and lots of Q&A:

  • Fabric: types, choosing, measuring, buying, how to fold/cut, and more

  • Basic construction skills (straight line projects)

  • How to approach a project (planning, order of operations)

  • Measuring

  • Cutting fabric

  • Choosing useful tools, notions, etc.

  • How to choose a pattern appropriate to your skills (avoid frustrating yourself)

  • Tips, techniques, terms commonly used in sewing

Types of projects you can make with the skills we’ll discuss include pillows, curtains, hemming, bags, skirts, and more.

Price: Includes instruction and materials for practicing techniques. Get a 10% discount on purchases of any items to build up your tools, notions, or fabric for your projects to start or take home.
