When: 2 sessions, Sunday, March 3 & 10, 1 - 4 pm (total of 6 instructional hours)
If you've been wanting to learn how to make a patchwork quilt, but don’t know where to start, this is your workshop. We’ll discuss quilting terminology, tools, fabric, and basic techniques as we walk you through how to prepare and piece a patchwork quilt top, including how to assemble the pieces, properly iron the stitched blocks, make the binding tape, make a quilt sandwich, and hand quilt. We will be working with pre-cut blocks, with which you can play with your design. We may do some additional cutting in class, and will demonstrate how to measure, plan and cut, for your future projects as well.
Class size is limited to 6, so bring your questions, ideas, and prepare to learn all about quilting.
You’ll leave with a small pieced top that you can use as a fun accent on a table, as a placemat, or even hang on your wall. Everything you learn in this workshop can easily be applied to a larger piece. You’ll also receive a copy of our super succinct guide to quilting AND receive 10% off any purchases on class day (perfect for stocking up for your new project plans).
If you have never used a sewing machine before, we ask that you first take our Beginner Sewing Class.
Price: Includes instruction, all basic supplies for the workshop project, use of studio sewing machines, tools, and basic notions. If you would like to expand on the small project we have additional fabric, etc. that you can purchase at our shop with a 10% student discount on class day.
Age: This class is designed for adults, but we are happy to teach kids age 12 and up. Contact us to confirm before registering. Families are welcome to sign up together for the same class.
