When: 2 sessions - Saturday, March 9, 11 am - 3 pm & Sunday, March 10, 1 - 4 pm (total 7 hours instruction)
Want to learn how to sew your own clothes using a commercial pattern? Join us for this two part intensive workshop and sew the awesome Metamorphic Dress, by Sew Liberated. This is a beginner level garment sewing workshop. This means previous sewing machine experience is required, but you don’t have to be an expert. We'll review the sewing machine at the beginning to cover the bits relevant to this workshop, but you should be comfortable threading the machine and sewing a straight line.
In this workshop you'll learn:
Garment sewing terminology
How to use a commercial pattern
How to make a gathered skirt
How to sew a facing
How to use all the tools, cutting, pinning, ironing
How to sew a hem
How to sew side seam and patch pockets
We'll walk you through each step of the pattern and stitching up your dress.
You'll leave with an awesome new dress made by you, and the knowledge and confidence to tackle new garment sewing projects on your own. Not only do you make a dress in this workshop, but you actually make two, as this pattern is for a reversible dress!
*Please wash and dry your fabric and cut your pattern before class. We will cut the fabric during class. If you need assistance with cutting your pattern and choosing a size, we are happy to help you in the shop on a date prior to class.
Price: Includes hands-on instruction, opportunity for lots of questions, all use of sewing machines, tools, neutral colored thread, etc. You will need to purchase a copy of the pattern and approximately 5 yards of fabric for the class (students receive a 10% discount on the purchase of any supplies for the class). Please stop by the shop in advance to pick up your pattern and fabric so you can prewash and iron your fabric (to avoid shrinkage after you spend so much time stitching it up).
