Beginner Garment Sewing

When: Saturday, June 30, 2 - 7 pm

Want to learn how to sew your own clothes using a pattern? Join us for this 5 hour intensive workshop and sew the simple, fun Willow Tank by Graineline Studio. This is a beginner level garment sewing workshop. This means previous sewing machine experience is required, but you don’t have to be an expert. We'll review the sewing machine at the beginning to cover the bits relevant to this workshop, but you should be able and comfortable threading the machine and sewing a straight line.

In this workshop you'll learn:

  • Garment sewing terminology

  • How to use a commercial pattern, including how to measure your body and determine proper sizing.

  • How to choose and prepare fabrics

  • How to use all the tools, cutting, pinning, ironing

  • How to sew a hem, sew darts, apply a bias facing

We'll walk you through each step of the pattern and stitching up your tank.

You'll leave with an awesome new shirt made by you, and the knowledge and confidence to tackle new garment sewing projects on your own.  Plus the Willow Tank pattern includes instructions and pattern to make a tank dress as your next project at home.

Price: Includes the pattern, 2 yards of fabric of your choice, hands-on instruction, opportunity for lots of questions, all use of tools, thread, etc.
