Elevating the Tote Bag

When: Tote - Sunday, May 27, 2:00 - 5:00 pm

Ready to jump into sewing and/or take your basic straight line sewing skills to the next level?  If you've never used a machine before or used one years ago, by can't remember much, you are qualified for this workshop. I'll cover the basics of using your sewing machine and include a bit of practice time to get you comfortable before you work with your actual project.  Purchase the canvas and liner of your choice from the fun stylish options available for sale in the shop (with a 10% discount). I'll provide everything else you need, including thread, leather straps, hardware, and of course instruction. I'll teach you how to cut out your bag, assemble it, and add leather straps!

Skills Covered: Learn how to use all the tools, cut fabric to size, add simple pockets, sew straight lines with the sewing machine, and attach leather straps to complete the perfect new canvas tote for summer. (This workshop is appropriate for a confident or advanced beginner.)

You'll leave each session with an awesome new item made by you, and the knowledge and confidence to tackle new sewing projects on your own.

What You Will Learn:  How to use a sewing machine, how to construct a project, basic sewing terminology and practices, what tools to use and how, and all the little things related to these.

Materials: Machines, tools, and basic notions are supplied. If you bring your own machine, please be sure it works, and bring the manual and all parts (especially the power cord and foot pedal).
